SOLO PERFORMANCES

Wichers' performing arts come into being inspired by her Dutch-Indies heritage, parents and ancestors. During thorough research into a subject that fascinates her at the moment, she is creating objects from disposable material. These find their way as props into the performance of that moment. In this process, intuition and improvisation play a major role in responding optimally to the moment and enabling interactivity with an audience.

STAMBOEL LUPA

Wichers tells the story of Komedie Stamboel, a fascinating cultural phenomenon by the end of 19th, beginning 20th century colonial Indonesia, the Dutch Indies. This unique form of revue combined eastern and western forms of music theater in a time of segregation and was instigated by the collaboration between poor Indo's and Chinese entrepeneurs on Java. The artist sheds light on this forgotten history with a whirlwind alternation of monologues, songs, costume changes, and inventive use of props. Playing eight different characters, male, female, non-gender, it's a story about empowerment of Indo(nesian) men and women that still resonates today and transcending ethnic and geographical boundaries.

PLASTIC ANTABOGA

The spirits of divine snake Antaboga as an eight meter long snake made of waste plastics and Dewi Sri, godess of rice, intertwined with the voices of Dutch and Javanese feminists Mina Kruseman and Kartini. Thrown into a contemporary setting by exploring various forms of performing the subject. The mythical aspect of this project allows it to develop in various artistic directions and can have different durations:

* As a soundscape with vocals and electronic music devices

* As a theater piece  representing six characters through text, costumes and props

* As a performance piece with electronic music devices as the cockpit domain controller of a space ship.
